Cristallo Privacy Policy
The Short Version
Cristallo converts your documents on your Mac and never sends them anywhere. The app has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting of its own. If you buy directly from us, we keep the few details needed to send your license key again. Here's the whole picture:

We never:
- See, upload or keep the documents you convert, or the files the app writes
- Collect usage analytics, crash reports or device identifiers in the app
- Sell or share personal data for advertising
- Set cookies, advertising pixels or analytics on cristallo.app
- Send marketing email
1. Who We Are
Cristallo is made by Virgee LLC ("we," "us," "our"). It is a macOS app that converts PDFs and scanned pages into Markdown, Word and CSV files, sold on this website and on the Mac App Store, with a website at cristallo.app (together, the "Service"). 2. What Data We Collect
2.1 In the app
Nothing. The documents you convert, the results and your settings stay on your Mac:

2.2 When you buy directly from us
Paddle.com is our reseller and the Merchant of Record: it collects your payment, address and tax details under its own privacy notice, and we never see your card. To deliver your license, Paddle tells us your transaction ID and purchase date, and we look up the email address of your Paddle customer record. We keep your email address, the transaction ID, the purchase and update dates, and a SHA-256 hash of your license key (not the key itself), and we email you the key through Resend.
2.3 Data collected automatically
In the app: the edition sold on this website checks for updates by downloading a list of releases from cristallo.app. That request carries the app's version and the technical details of any web request, such as your IP address, and nothing about you or your documents. The Mac App Store edition makes no network connections at all. On cristallo.app, Cloudflare, our host, records ordinary server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page, time) for a short period to serve and protect the site. The buy page loads Paddle's checkout, which may set cookies needed for payment and fraud prevention; see Paddle's privacy notice.
2.4 Data you provide directly
If you email support@cristallo.app, we receive your address and whatever you include, such as a page you attach to show a conversion problem. We use it only to help you, and we delete attached documents once the problem is solved.
2.5 Data we do NOT collect
- The contents, names or locations of your documents
- Usage analytics, feature events or session recordings
- Crash reports from inside the app (Apple may forward anonymized ones if you opted in to sharing with developers)
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers or fingerprints
- Your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone

We do not use any data for advertising, profiling or selling to data brokers, or for any purpose unrelated to Cristallo.
4. Your Documents Stay on Your Mac
Conversion runs entirely on your Mac, with models and code inside the app. The Mac App Store edition runs in the macOS App Sandbox without network access and can only read the files you choose. The edition sold here connects only to check for updates and never sends documents or results. Your license key is verified inside the app, offline. You can confirm all of this with any network monitor.

We use no advertising networks, analytics providers or crash reporters.
6. Data Storage & Security
Purchase records are stored in Cloudflare's infrastructure, readable only by our license service and by us. We store a hash of your license key rather than the key, so the records alone cannot be used as licenses. Everything the app works with stays on your Mac; deleting the app removes its settings and trial count, and your documents are untouched because they were never ours.
7. Data Retention
- Purchase records: kept while we support the product, so we can resend your license key at any time. Ask and we delete yours (we then can no longer resend your key).
- Support email: kept as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted within 12 months.
- Website server logs: kept by our host for a short period (typically days), then discarded.
- Everything else: nothing is retained because nothing is collected.
8. Your Rights & Choices
For all users
You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, by emailing support@cristallo.app. Rights over payment data held by Paddle or Apple are exercised with them.
For EU/EEA and UK residents (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port personal data we hold, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. We answer within 30 days.
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information and never have. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.
For residents of Mexico (LFPDPPP)
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO), and revoke your consent, by writing to support@cristallo.app. We answer within 20 business days.
9. Children's Privacy
Cristallo is not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly hold no data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
10. International Data Transfers
Virgee LLC is based in the United States. Purchase records, support email and website logs may be processed in the United States and wherever our providers operate. By buying directly or contacting us, you understand your data will be handled there.
11. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, this page changes first, with a new "Last Updated" date. A material change will be called out in the release notes of the next update and here.
